How do I make a booking?

If you haven't done so already, please check the booking availability and prices by viewing our calendar to make sure the date you would like is available. Then, give us a call on 07968 158554 (International: +44 7968 158554) or use our online form.

What deposit do I need to make a booking?

A deposit of £100 is required to secure a booking. This is refunded on the completion of your stay, is separate from the booking fee, and is returned following check-out.

What Are the Booking / Check in and Check Out times?

The cottage is usually booked for a period of seven nights, from Saturday 2pm (check in) to the following Saturday, 10 am (check out). Other periods may be available - Please get in touch if you would like more information.

I need to cancel my booking - How much notice do you require?

Please let us know as soon as possible. We require a minimum of 2 weeks notice. Canceling later than this time will result in a loss of your deposit.

Do you allow dogs?

We do not allow pets.

What parking facilities are available?

Roadside parking is always available and can be found just past Long Thatch cottage, which is next door to Laurel Cottage.

I have special accessibility requirements (such as Wheelchair use) - is the cottage suitable?

We are sorry that due to the layout and position of the cottage, i.e. steps leading up from street-level, width of doorways etc,  wheelchair access is not practical.

Is there a telephone available? Is there good mobile phone coverage?

There is no land line telephone installed in the cottage. Mobile phone reception is quite good in this area but like much of the island, the reception can be subject to interference.

Is Broadband / Wireless Available?

There are no broadband wireless facilities provided, however it is possible to connect via 3G Data devices.

Is is OK to smoke in the cottage?

No, smoking is only permitted in the outdoor areas.

Is there a washing machine / microwave / iron and other facilities available?

The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen comprising of all cooking facilities together with fridge/freezer, washing machine and iron. A rotary washing line is available in the garden.

How do I get to the Isle of Wight?

The Isle of Wight has regular (around 20 - 30mins) links to the mainland from both Portsmouth and Southampton, via car ferry, catamaran and hovercraft. Visit the web sites below for more information.

Pre-booking the car ferry is highly recommended in the peak summer season / holiday times.

What public transport services are available in Chale and the Island?

Chale is served by a regular bus service with connections across the island. A rail service is available  between Ryde and Shanklin. There are numerous taxi services available.

What happens if something gets broken or damaged at the cottage?

Please inform us as immediately of any breakages or damage done to the property so that it can be repaired. While the owner accepts that a certain amount of wear and tear is inevitable, serious damage to the property (such as broken windows, damage to carpets and fittings) may incur a fee for replacement.
